Hi! I’m Kendra.
I wanted to start this blog to share with you my learnings and tips for following the Wahl’s Protocol. I have been striving to follow the Wahl’s protocol since 2017, and let me say it does get easier over time. Sticking to the Wahl’s protocol is no easy task and when I started there weren’t any resources out there other than Dr. Terry Wahl’s book. I share this blog with you to discover simple recipes and find strategies to can work the protocol into their lives.
I eat the Wahl’s protocol in order to optimize my health. I do not have MS, which is the disease the diet was first intended to help, however I do have autoimmune Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism. I was first diagnosed with the disease when I was high school, and after starting to take the thyroid replacement hormones, I thought nothing more of it. It wasn’t until almost a decade later in my mid-20s that I found my health had deteriorated more than I thought should be normal. I started to research more about Hashimoto’s and self experiment with different diets to see what would help. I first went on a gluten free diet, eventually transitioned to a paleo diet, and that is how I discovered a 20 minute talk by Dr Wahls where she described her journey of getting MS, becoming confined to a wheelchair and eventually being able to walk and bike again through the healing power of the diet. My conclusion was that if eating this way can help cure someone of MS, then eating this way must prevent our bodies from developing this and other diseases.
